The trip to Dover Castle, delayed from April, finally managed to go ahead.  The weather kept its distance with the clouds and gloomy fog over France where they should be.  Dover Castle is one of the most impressive and complete fortresses in England.  As well as visiting the main keep and the surrounding castle buildings, including the church, we were allowed to go through the war time tunnels.  This is where the evacuation of Dunkirk was planned and executed, in the small window of a few days, which enabled over 300,000 troops to be lifted off the French shores and brought back to the UK. The wonder of the small boats and British spirit which went to get them.

Thanks to Brian McGibbon for arranging.
