Outings Report 27

Outings Report on London Unlimited - Southbank on 23 Feb 2016

A small but determined bunch of travellers wrapped up well and braved the cold but bright sunshine, to travel to the Southbank. Enterprising Members found many attractions, within reasonable walking distance of being dropped at the London Eye – including the exhibitions at the Imperial War museum, and more locally - National Portrait Gallery, Royal Festival Hall, Tate Modern and The National Theatre.  Others immediately aimed for favourite museums or first visits elsewhere, or wandered down the Queens Walk riverside trail. Lunch by the Thames was a favourite choice.

Although the London Eye, the National Film Theatre, the I-Max Theatre, The London Dungeon, the Sea Life London Aquarium, and Thames River Trips down to Greenwich were local to the South Bank, they seemed to be full with foreign visitors and there were comments that popular London attractions are now overpriced for pensioners.

Everyone could follow their own preferences and hence another very enjoyable day in London.
