Outing Report Four Rivers Cruise    Sat 12th September 2015

The Four, or was it just Two(?), Rivers cruise. Starting at Southampton, we got to know each deck of the boat well before lunch. At lunch, the scenery did not move very much (the battery for one of the engines failed, and no replacement available), so we were able to appreciate the delicious lunch without the distraction of attractions moving past outside.  Following lunch, we transferred to another boat, and went out into the estuary, in calm(ish) waters .. There, we saw the huge car transporter boats and the even larger P&O cruise ships Brittania (3,500 passengers)  and AZURE (3,000 passengers), before heading east to the Southampton Water  -passing ferries, ribs, canoes  and sailing boats en-route to the River Hamble.  A great feast – the river seemed to be home to the majority of small yachts in the UK.  Berthed, in the basins, moored in neat lines, and going on forever - 99.9% of them were just moored, not out sailing, despite the excellent sunshine, except for 1 huge racing trimaran.  And we had an extra treat   the Red Arrows air display over the Southampton Boat show was clearly visible in the clear blue skies. Super Day.
